Panchami Gurupanchami (పంచమి గురుపంచమి) refers to the day when the Panchami Tithi, or the fifth day of the lunar fortnight, coincides with a Thursday or Guruvar (the day dedicated to Jupiter or Guru in Hinduism).

Guru in Sanskrit means ‘teacher’ or ‘mentor’. This day could be considered significant for honoring and showing gratitude towards one’s teachers and spiritual guides, as per the significance of the term Guru.

On this day, special prayers or rituals are dedicated to Lord Brihaspati, the deity representing the planet Jupiter in Hindu astrology.
